COALITION FOR JEWISH VALUES URGES CONFIRMATION OF DAVID FRIEDMAN AS AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL
Jewish Organization calls Friedman a “breath of fresh air”
BALTIMORE, MD (Feb. 19) — The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV) commends President Trump on his nomination of David Friedman as the next United States Ambassador to Israel, and enthusiastically urges the United States Senate to confirm him at the earliest opportunity.
David Friedman is a patriotic American with an extensive, intimate knowledge of the State of Israel, a product of his more than fifty visits to that country. He is widely respected for his legal skills and his passionate and honorable advocacy of his clients’ interests. He has a longstanding personal relationship with President Trump that is built on trust and mutual respect, and so Mr. Friedman is uniquely qualified to implement the President’s vision for the security of Israel and stability in the Middle East.
The CJV deeply regrets the relentless attacks on Mr. Friedman emanating from a variety of sources, including Reform Jewish groups. These attacks are directly attributable to those groups’ unswerving opposition to President Trump and his policies. Those groups do not represent the legions of traditional Jews whose values and ethics are grounded in the Torah.
Unlike previous emissaries to the Middle East who followed the same well-worn paths to failure for decades, Friedman offers a new outlook, unburdened by the politically-correct baggage of his many ineffective predecessors.
It is surreal that Mr. Friedman has been assailed for his support of the right of Jews to settle in Judea, whence the very word “Jew” is derived. Mr. Friedman brings an honest and realistic approach to Middle East diplomacy, something that has been missing for decades, and will be a breath of fresh air in the stultified halls of international diplomacy.
CJV is delighted to support David Friedman’s nomination and asks the Senate to speedily confirm him.
The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), a national organization directed by prominent rabbinic leaders, articulates an authentic Jewish perspective on current events. The CJV begins with the premise that something can legitimately be called a Jewish value only if it comes from the Torah and millennia of Jewish teaching. The CJV defends traditional Jewish values through writing and teaching derived from authentic Jewish thought.
