Last week, the CJV Healthcare Council joined organizations representing thousands of religious healthcare professionals in a letter to the American Medical Association, the Children’s Hospital Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. These medical groups previously urged the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute critics of “gender-affirming medicine.” To suppress the debate surrounding “gender identity” and the medical interventions thought to “affirm” them violates both the principle of scientific inquiry and of constitutionally protected free speech. The coalition letter challenges these medical groups in an effort to promote both freedom of religion and speech.
This effort did not go unnoticed. Both the Catholic News Agency and The Christian Post reported on the letter, highlighting CJV as the only Jewish group to sign.
CJV also joined a recent coalition letter opposing selective service registration for women.
