Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 2,500 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in American public policy, today called for support of a House Resolution “Opposing efforts to place one-sided pressure on Israel with respect to Gaza,” due to be considered Tuesday by the House Rules Committee, chaired by Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK). CJV President Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld issued the following statement:
This resolution supports simple fairness, self-defense, and the survival of Jewish life in the State of Israel. Calls for a ceasefire not accompanied by release of the hostages, now held for over six months following the brutal Hamas massacre of innocent civilians, reflect a cruel double standard. By recognizing Israel’s right to pursue the elimination of Hamas, this resolution supports good over evil, and stands in staunch support of true peace and stability in the region.
