The Biden administration promised the Palestinian Authority that it would reopen the consulate. Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Lapid stated correctly that the place for such a consulate is Ramallah—the only purpose of opening such an office in Jerusalem would be to broadcast U.S. endorsement of the idea that Arabs have an equal claim to Jerusalem as that of Israel. This, in turn, will be used to justify terror and violence.
