The addition of Rabbis Parnes and Smason to the CJV board cements the organization’s place as the leading voice representing the consensus of America’s rabbis in public policy.

A statement aimed at advocating for civil discourse and rejecting “cancel culture” has garnered increased support. Notable signatories include Russell Moore, president of the SBC Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission; Ayaan Hirsi Ali, research fellow at the Hoover Institution; Robert P. George, professor of jurisprudence at Princeton University; and Rabbi Pesach Lerner, president of the Coalition for Jewish Values.

The rabbis deplored attacks upon the nominee as “based in bigotry and bias.”

The Coalition for Jewish Values condemned criticism of Amy Coney Barrett, nominee to the position of associate justice on the US Supreme Court, based upon her religious views, membership in religious associations, or her family.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) denigrated Coney Barrett’s religious views when the latter was nominated to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017, stating that “whatever a religion is, it has its own dogma… the dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s of concern.”

“This idea that a guy who condemned white supremacists a dozen times needs to do so again, it has a dog and pony aspect to it,” Menken said.

The CJV today endorsed the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the United States Supreme Court.

Rabbi Dov Fischer, Western Regional vice president of the Coalition for Jewish Values, told JNS: “Judge Coney Barrett is a distinguished law-school professor and mentor, and has established a splendid record on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.”
