On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, we are pleased to have as our honored guest Rabbi Yaakov Menken. Rabbi Menken’s organization, The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), is the largest Rabbinic Public Policy organization in America, articulating and advocating for public policy positions based upon traditional Jewish thought.

After a year and a half of fighting for Jewish values in the public sphere, the Coalition for Jewish Values is surveying the battlefield.

Most important of all, Jewish life is growing in Israel, while non-Orthodox Jewish affiliation is literally collapsing here in America, with intermarriage now over 70% and synagogue attendance at all-time lows. One could hardly imagine an issue more essential to the JFNA than the future of American Jewry, yet the program expresses no interest in discussing this crucial topic.

After conversing with Rabbi Lerner and reading some of the organization’s position papers, it seems that a small revolution is in the making. With the help of over a thousand rabbis whom he’s enlisted to the cause, Rabbi Lerner intends to go on the offensive and storm the media with an information campaign to bring the voice of authentic Torah tradition to the public ear.

If the data clearly shows that children raised outside traditional families are more likely to grow up into troubled adults, it is morally wrong to deliberately place children outside traditional families.

On May 17, the UCLA student group Students Supporting Israel (SSI) hosted an event called ‘Indigenous Peoples Unite,’ in which representatives of the Jewish, Kurdish and Armenian communities presented their unique stories, highlighting the fact that these groups, according to SSI promotional literature, ‘are often ignored when speaking about indigenous history.’

In an August 2, 2018 letter to prosecutor Hart, the Coalition for Jewish Values, representing some 1,000 rabbis, urged prosecution of the UCLA disrupters citing verisimilitude to the “Nazi Party in Germany and its Sturmabteilung (SA), the storm troopers or brownshirts.”
