If Professor Peri’s hostility is so severe that it overwhelmed common decency and decorum in a public place, it is difficult to imagine how she could banish it from her classroom presentations for a full semester.

The Coalition for Jewish Values has called for a review of Perry over the incident. Had she done this to Muslims, it’s unimaginable that she would still be employed.

“Her behavior was gratuitous and outrageous,” said Rabbi Steven Pruzansky, East Coast regional vice president of the CJV, “and appeared to reflect a deep-seated animus towards Jewish observance. Her derision and forced, sarcastic laughter were completely outside the behavior expected of rational adults.”

The Coalition for Jewish Values and the Zionist Organization of America strongly condemned the Beacon School of Manhattan, a highly selective college preparatory public school, for authorizing the use of its public address system to call for a moment of silence in tribute to “Palestinian victims of violence” in Gaza.

“There are no two ways about it; claiming that Hamas operatives are ‘victims’ is to say that killing Jews is a peaceful activity,” Rabbi Pesach Lerner, president of the Orthodox Coalition for Jewish Values said in a May 23 statement.

Claiming the school had “abandoned its educational mission,” the 1000-strong rabbinic organization demanded an immediate public apology from the Beacon School.
