BDS is transparently anti-Semitic, eerily reminiscent of boycotts historically perpetrated against Jews by our worst enemies. Yet history is also replete with examples of Jewish renegades who defamed their own people in order to gain personal acceptance and favor.

The demand for changes comes only from American liberal movements, which are trying to divert attention from the utter collapse of their authority and continuity here in America by attempting to intervene in Israel’s religious affairs.

The ban includes none of the countries with the five largest Muslim populations, and affects less than 10% of Muslims worldwide. We reject categorically any comparison between the Jews of the Nazi era, who had no country of refuge to avoid slaughter for being Jews, and today’s Muslim and Arab populations.

There is no way to reform an organization from the inside when its very core is corrupt… and sometimes leading from the front means walking out the door.

For those of us serving as synagogue rabbis, whose congregants look to national organizations to tell them what is kosher, it is dismaying that two prominent organizations chose to join in a statement with radical Jewish groups.

Leftist groups attempted to elevate same-sex marriage to be a fundamental matter of identity, such that not baking a wedding cake would be akin to refusing service to blacks or Jews. That would not enhance civil rights; it would have trampled them, sacrificing religious freedoms ensconced in the First Amendment on the altar of political correctness.

In a sharply-worded letter to Ruth Lacey, Principal of Beacon High School in Manhattan, Rabbi Pesach Lerner, President of the Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), questioned whether the school was “honoring humanity, or barbarism.”

The CJV called for two universities to revisit the courses assigned to Professor Pnina Peri next year, and to mandate diversity and sensitivity training before returning to the classroom. [UPDATED: American University reached out to indicate Peri is not a professor at AU, web link to the contrary.]
