DEI: The Battle is Just Beginning
January 12, 2022

Last month CJV called upon universities to abandon “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) efforts, pending a comprehensive review to ensure that such programs do not promote antisemitic bias.” CJV cited research from the Heritage Foundation demonstrating that DEI officials displayed egregious and frequent antisemitic bias.

In a closed-door meeting with conservative political and organizational leaders, Rabbi Menken and Jay Greene, author of the Heritage Foundation’s paper on the antisemitic tweets of DEI officers, discussed the research and the newfound ability to push back against DEI, drawing an enthusiastic response.

Rabbi Menken pointed out that this affects all traditional groups: “Wayne State University, for example, invests huge resources in DEI. It has a Chief Diversity Officer, offices in various schools, even its Chemistry department has a DEI committee… None of these taxpayer-funded DEI professionals apparently thought there was anything problematic about excluding Intervarsity Christian Fellowship as a student organization because it expects officers to be actual Christians. None spoke up on behalf of ideological diversity.

“What Heritage Foundation has uncovered is that when it comes to the students most likely to be victims of a bias incident, the Jews, the role of DEI officials is to take to social media and fan the flames.”
