Last Tuesday, CJV published a statement regarding the leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that indicates an impending decision on a new court case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, possibly overturning Roe v. Wade.
“We support Heartbeat Laws and other efforts to distinguish between tragic cases of abortion due to medical necessity, as compared to disregard for fetal life as simply the mother’s ‘choice’… Reversing Roe v. Wade would not ban abortion, as alarmists insist—on the contrary, it would restore this policy decision to the hands of the democratic governments of the individual states.”
This statement drew coverage from the Miami Herald, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA), Jewish News Syndicate (JNS), and the Washington Times. Each publication focused on responses from policy groups, and Jewish and other faith-based organizations, respectively.

Rabbi Menken spoke to the Washington Times, indicating that he believes the rate of adoption will rise as the rate of abortion plummets. Many of these adoptions could be “facilitated by agencies within the Orthodox Jewish communities the group’s 2,000 member rabbis serve.”
