“Mr. Nadler has forgotten the Constitution,” CJV President Rabbi Pesach Lerner said in a scathing statement. “The Founding Fathers required Congress to avoid infringing upon the free exercise of religion.”

The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV) today harshly rejected, on both moral and Constitutional grounds, the claim by Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) that “what any religious tradition describes as G-d’s will is no concern of this Congress.”

Last week, the Coalition for Jewish Values called for the rejection of the Equality Act, saying it was “a direct attack on Jewish religious values and practices.”

Rabbi Yaakov Menken, managing director of the Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV) had the perfect response. “The left is desperate to draw attention from their elevation of antisemites in Congress… so they claim a stage design is antisemitic,” he said on Twitter.

A number of religious groups are lobbying against the bill, including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Coalition for Jewish Values, which represents over 1500 Orthodox Jewish rabbis, and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The Equality Act is a disgraceful attack upon Jewish Biblical beliefs, no more excusable because other groups have similar tenets.
